Student MUAs

Supporting Students

We are part of our creative practice, we support and encourages creatives from every sector.

We realise that makeup artists and actors rely upon images to promote themselves and for assignments.

We extend our Studio Sessions to those creatives. The studio sessions, regardless of the time allocated will only be £10.

If you need us to shoot within your studio/classroom we will charge only the cost of travel to and from your location. This will be agreed before hand.

What is on offer

We make this simple.

We shoot a set for your look(s). Normally this is in the studio, however, we know that themed shoots are required for more advanced assignments.

MUAs need the unedited images for assignments for hand in and edited images for portfolios. To this end we give you at least two images from each set, an "as is" shot (unedited apart from basic adjustments) and an edited image for portfolio.

Actors usually need several 'headshots' for different roles but the same applies.

We do not watermark these images, they are yours to use as you need.

FAQs

Are the images restricted in size? No, the images are full resolution and yours to use for your needs.

How do I get them? They are uploaded to your online file where you can download them, if you wish you can delete these as you wish. These are yours to do what you need to do with them. We have the digital negative securely stored if you need them again. Your folder is where we put all subsequent shoots, should we shoot again, it normally stays online for 2 years and then we review them (basic digital housekeeping)

Do I need to credit you? That would be good but not obligatory. We are all creatives, supporting each other is what we should do so it would be good to be credited.

Sometimes, as in editorials, you don't get to edit the copy that goes with the image, the editor might restrict the copy to a certain length, this isn't your doing, just part of life as a creative.

Do you use these? We might, but always with permission, in context and always credited, however, not normally till you have submitted them or used them for your needs. We submit portfolio work for competitions and for applications, this work should not have been in the public domain, we assume that this is the case for you too.

Do I need to do anything else? Always attend to the basics!

It was in  context, the theme was called 'Ghostly', it was a little revealing and the background needed to be stately, we chatted to the Trust and got permission so there no repercussions from the shoot, they could rightly object. They were included in finished image and when they saw the images they were fine with it. Always assume you'll shoot there again or other creatives will!!

What about shoots that involve nudity; Nudity, implied or otherwise, changes the shoot parameters and may incur legal issues. We will talk this through with you. Generally, we need to ensure that the model is not exposed in public and that they are safe at all times. We have a special clause under our model release for nudity to protect the model and you.

Printing; We can organise printing or we can walk you through this. It's really easy and we do this all the time.
